iPhone 6s and 6s Plus will get 2GB of RAM

Apple’s event is scheduled for September 9th this year. They will be debuting the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus among other things. It’s been rumoured that one of the upgrades for the new iPhones is 2GBs of RAM. At this point it’s still a rumor but here’s why I think it will happen.

If you’ve followed Apple or the iPhone for awhile you know a couple of things. Apple is not in the specifications (specs) war, they don’t anounce things like the amount of RAM or processor speeds and they stretch out the hardware (amount of RAM) among iPhone models. Apple instead of talking about speeds and amounts of RAM prefers to talk about things quantifiable to a user. They tell users that the new processor is 10x faster, the graphics is now 8x faster. These are things users understand. If we also take a look at the historic data for when Apple increased the amount of RAM in iPhones here’s what we get.

As you can see Apple is really good at stretching out the hardware they use among different models. They didn’t increase to 512MB of RAM until the iPhone 4. The iPhone 5, 5s and 6 all have 1GB of RAM. I definitely think that from this standpoint the new model of iPhone will have an increase in RAM. The iPad Air 2 already has 2GB of RAM so I think the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus will step up to the plate with 2GBs of RAM. The other reason I think the iPhones will get 2GBs of RAM. Is because of the rumored animated Motion Wallpapers. Among other things that will most likely be coming in iOS 9 and the new features that will undoubtedly be released on the new iPhones. As the 9to5Mac post says it looks like Apple is planning to introduce new animated wallpapers on the 6s and 6s plus. Much like the Jellyfish and other animated wallpapers currently on the Apple Watch. There are also rumors of a new and much improved 12 Megapixel (MP) camera on the iPhones along with the ability to record 4K video. An increase to 2GBs of RAM will make all these features and any others buttery smooth.

So I definitely expect the new iPhones to come with 2GBs of RAM. If they don’t I would be more than surprised
